The Nyingma (ancient) school of Tibetan or Vajrayana Buddhism was founded in the eighth century by the great enlightened Indian tantric master Padmasambhava, "the second Buddha", and is the oldest of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism (Nyingma, Kagyu, Sakya, and Gelug).  Its teachings, transmissions, and lineage of enlightened masters have continued unbroken to this day.

Anam Thubten grew up in Tibet and at an early age began to practice in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He is the founder and spiritual advisor of Dharmata Foundation, teaching widely in the U.S. and abroad. Through the essential wisdom of Buddhism and his personal experience on the spiritual path, Anam Thubten brings alive the timeless teachings and invites everyone to participate.

He is also the author of many articles and books in both the Tibetan and English language, including The Magic of Awareness, Choosing Compassion, and No Self, No Problem. His robust web offerings included audio and video teachings, access to his books, and his teaching and retreat schedule: www.dharmata.org.

Under his direction, we offer his teachings on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at EBS.  Our practice includes sitting meditation, mantra recitation and we alternate between a book study and listening to Rinpoche's teachings.
